Festivals on Schiermonnikoog
For six days in October, the International Chamber Music Festival Schiermonnikoog combines music with nature. The festival offers master classes, music documentaries, lectures and trips into the island’s beautiful surroundings. Each year, over 60 musicians from across the world travel to the peaceful island of Schiermonnikoog, dedicating this week to their music and performance. The intimacy of chamber music and the unique nature of the island enhance one another’s beauty, and give the festival its unique character.
As of 2012, we also organize the Young Talent Festival in March. This festival invites finalists and prize-winning musicians from different classical music competitions, as well as students from the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. Top-tier talents from all over the world have the opportunity to perform concerts and follow master classes with Nobuko Imai (viola), Jan Wijn (piano), Philippe Graffin (violin), Jeroen Reuling (cello) and Gary Hoffman (chamber music). During this week, the quiet island becomes a stage for young international talent.
