Evening concert Got Tjark
Schubert's Sonata in a grabs you from the very first bar: melancholy and vulnerability collide, interspersed with lyrical clarity. Intense, dramatic and poetic – a masterpiece full of tension and emotion, and such a beautiful contrast to Bach's overwhelming, austere Chromatic Fantasy & Fugue. Both are played by British-Dutch Oliver Franks, who, since studying piano, Arabic and classical languages, has been enjoying life in the Swedish countryside.
Vienna's Antonia Straka ventures into Poulenc's virtuoso Cello Sonata with Daniel Kramer on piano. Energetic, playful and sparkling, full of lively rhythms and light-hearted leaps, but also introspective, poetic moments in the Cavatine.
Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) Chromatic Fantasy & Fugue, BWV 903
Franz Schubert (1797-1828) Sonata in A minor, D 784
Oliver Franks | piano
Francis Poulenc (1899-1963) Sonata for cello and piano, FP 143
Antonia Straka | cello
Daniel Kramer | piano
