Festivals on Schiermonnikoog
The Schiermonnikoog Festival combines music with nature. Twice a year, the festival offers masterclasses, documentaries, lectures and trips into the island’s beautiful surroundings. Both in spring ánd autumn, over 200 musicians from across the world travel to the peaceful island of Schiermonnikoog, dedicating this week to their music and performance. The intimacy of chamber music and the unique nature of the island enhance one another’s beauty, and give the festival its unique character.
In spring, the festival invites finalists and prize-winning musicians from different classical music competitions, as well as students from the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. Top-tier talents from all over the world have the opportunity to perform concerts and follow master classes with Nobuko Imai (viola), Avedis Kouyoumdjian (piano), Philippe Graffin (violin), Jeroen Reuling (cello), Marc Danel (chamber music) and Gary Hoffman (chamber music) & cello. During this week, the quiet island becomes a stage for young international talent.
