Afternoon concert De Stag

Toujours plus loin, always further... A motto that enabled Claude Debussy to dare to measure himself against the long shadow of Beethoven in his String Quartet Opus 10. He did so by radically breaking with the German tradition: no rigid thematic development, but a free, almost impressionistic representation of sound and colour.

What Debussy's contemporary Chausson called a “lack of decorum” turned out to be the first step towards a new French tone. To this end, 13-year-old Akari Bastiaens, who has been playing the piano for over 10 years, delves into the music of three essential keyboard composers: Haydn, Liszt and Chopin.

Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) Sonata in E flat, Hob XVI/52

Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849) Scherzo, Op.54, No. 4
