Afternoon concert De Stag
Thomas Prechal, brand new winner of the Dutch National Cello Competition, will play his own deeply personal Inner Scream, among others, on the island. He opens with Kodály's challenging Cello Sonata, a long-time fixture at competitions. Then Georgian-Turkish Veriko Tchumburidze will perform a work by Otar Taktakishvili on Schiermonnikoog for the first time. One of the most important musicians during the Soviet period, he was showered with state awards for his rich oeuvre, in which folk elements link to tradition.
