The young Trio Theros, associated with the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, performs Haydn's Gypsy Trio with sparkling energy and a finale that will barely keep you in your seat. This is followed by Smetana's Piano Trio: darker, rawer and deeply felt, but just as irresistible. Folk music forms the foundation of both works — but takes on an entirely different colour. Two extremes, one compelling programme.
And who knows: perhaps Haydn or Smetana will soon knock Queen off the top spot in the Top 2000?
