Cello for Breakfast (early)

When Prokofiev heard Rostropovich play his almost forgotten cello concerto, he was so impressed that he rewrote the work for him and later had it conducted by Sviatolsav Richter. His Cello Sonata, premiered with the same Richter at the piano, was also written after a performance by Rostropovich. Before the premiere, the sonata had to pass critical Soviet committees, who needed no less than two listens to decide whether they were dealing with a masterpiece or a piece of music that went 'against the spirit of the people'. Schiermonnikoog Festival Award winner LiLa plays, in addition to the Prokofiev, a surprising Secret Score
