Documentary: Het wad op (in Dutch)
The Waddenvereniging presents Het wad op, a series of short documentaries about the relationship between humans and the Wadden area.
The series is about how human behaviour often goes against the characteristic dynamics of the natural area. Where we want to go straight ahead, the mudflats demand a meander. Where we put down a hard boundary, a gentle course is essential for the preservation of natural values. Gas drilling literally pulls the soil out from under millions of migratory birds and shellfish suffocate in the dredge through our shipping channels.
What can we learn from the landscape? We go into the area with biologists, a forester, activist and historian and show what impact we as humans have on nature. Do we continue to go against the current or do we move with the natural rhythm of the Wadden?
For the docuseries Het wad op, the Waddenvereniging worked together with the filmmakers of Jester & Wylde. They stand for stories about nature and science that stimulate your curiosity and make you look at the world differently.
