Evening concert De Stag
Feeling romantic? Tonight you're in the right place! First with Schubert's timeless Fantasy for two (delightful) pianists, and all the more with Bruch. His compelling Octet for four violins, two violas, cello and bass plays with the utmost feelings. Logical, as the late-romantic had plenty of them in 1920 - his wife had just died and Germany had lost the war. And yet you taste optimism, perhaps as a counter-movement? Speaking of movement, American violinist Claire Wells ventured into two of Widmann's Etudes just before the interval. Each time, the composer tackles a ‘technique’: polyphony and sheer virtuosity.
