Ghiribizzi (late)
Ghiribizzi, whimsical brainwaves, can be found by the Dokwerk Saxophone Quartet. These four energetic people won a Festival Award for their creative programme and sparkling performance, where old and new, original and adaptation flow smoothly into each other. Tonight you will hear among other pieces Negarehaye Rangin by Ramin Amin Tafreshi, the 7 Capricci (or: moods) by Jörg Widmann, and Mozart's famous Adagio & Fugue. The quartet also champions the music of Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre and Francesca Caccini. Musicologist Saskia Törnqvist will talk extensively about these and other female composers during three festival lectures, entirely dedicated to women in classical music.
