Grand Finale
An evening of old-fashioned quartets, or the Final Concert. The autumn festival concludes with a pillar of the chamber music repertoire, Brahms' lyrical Piano Quartet in A. Vast melodies, subtle motivic development and Hungarian tones give the piece a rich layering. The very last notes are immediately extra special: four cellos play the quartet by the Croatian composer Rudolf Matz. With this work, cellist Jeroen Reuling says goodbye as director and founder of the Schiermonnikoog Festival. In the spring of 2026, however, he will return to the island, because he will remain associated with the festival as a teacher of the cello masterclasses!
