Finale
A festival full of music calls for a finale that brings everything together. In the closing concert, rediscovery, connection and musical kinship resound in full force.
At the centre is the String Octet by Waldemar Bargiel — half-brother of Clara Schumann and a composer who has unjustly remained in the shadows. He also played a key role in the Netherlands: together with Johannes Verhulst, he realised the first performance of Bach's St Matthew Passion in our country. Alongside this, music by Clara Schumann and Mendelssohn is performed, with tenor Steven van der Linden, cellist Ella van Poucke and pianist Ben Kim among the performers.
A festive conclusion in which lines converge — between composers, generations and stories — and in which the richness of music history becomes audible once more.
