Reconciliation
Is it still acceptable to perform this music? Reconciliation asks that question — and invites you to listen and decide for yourself. At a time when Russian culture is under pressure, this programme departs from the conviction that music transcends politics: not an instrument of power, but a human expression of vulnerability, imagination and connection. Precisely in times of conflict, art can offer space for nuance and dialogue.
Caspar Vos and Frank Peters are known as specialists and advocates of Russian music, and here they sit together at one grand piano for four-handed works by Rachmaninov. His deeply moving Trio élégiaque also features in the programme. Set against this is Rimsky-Korsakov's festive quintet for piano and winds: sparkling, colourful and full of energy.
This concert is a plea not to let the beauty of art be clouded by the reality of politics.
