Salon de Thé

‘How long you pushed me for this piece that I did't want to write and which subsequently became one of my great successes, I never understood why,’ Saint-Saëns said. The lucky recipient of those words as well as a new work was Émile Lemoine, whose chamber music society in 1880 had the curious Septet with trumpet and all sorts of Baroque forms to play. Trumpet talent Joost Hettinga takes more space to shine in music by Enescu and Tomasi, while young bassist Sasha Witteveen dusts off one of the virtuoso classics for her instrument. Combined with tables full of cakes and tea, a delightful start to the 14th spring edition!
