Where the Bird Goes

Koffieconcert
Where the bird goes, the music follows. In Where the Bird Goes, Jasperina Verheij and Willem van den Dool take you on a journey through landscapes, languages and moods.

From the sweeping sounds of Sibelius and Grieg to the more introspective world of Kinkel and Berg: time and again, the bird appears as a symbol of freedom, longing and movement. In Berlioz’s Petit oiseau, Rodrigo, Poulenc and Séverac, that bird takes on a new guise each time.

The young duo – winners of the International Student Lied Duo Competition in Groningen – worked intensively on this programme in a public masterclass with Judith van Wanroij. What you hear is the result: refined, deeply felt and still evolving.
