Afternoon concert De Stag

During the 2020 lockdown, the members of the Felix Quartet pooled their passion for chamber music, and since then they've been tackling - sometimes with guests - the larger repertoire. Like Ravel's Quartet in F with the iconic pizzicatos in the second movement Assez vif. The work marked Ravel's official entrance into the pantheon of serious composers, after many unjustified years in the dilettante corner. In turn, Mendelssohn's opus 80 forms a shocking finale, a painful tribute to his sister who died far too young and one of his last works before his own death at the age of 38.

Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847) String Quartet No 6 in f, Op. 80
Maurice Ravel (1875-1937) String Quartet in F
Felix Quartet:
Marlene Dijkstra - violin
Caspar Horsch - violin
Michiel Wittink - viola
Boris Nedialkov - cello
