Birds

Koffieconcert
Birds sing everywhere – and composers have been listening to them for centuries. In Birds, harpist Joost Willemze demonstrates how that song is transformed into music time and again.

From the refined bird sounds of Rameau and Daquin at the court of Versailles to the expressive romanticism of Liszt, and on to contemporary soundscapes in which even electronics play a part. The harp whispers, sings and flutters through the programme.

It is no coincidence that this concert takes place on Schiermonnikoog: in October, millions of birds pass through here. Outside, nature makes its sound; inside, the music. Two worlds that merge seamlessly in this programme.
