Sometimes innovation can be found in the past. In this breakfast concert, pianist Samuel Glicklich shines a spotlight on a composer who is rarely in the limelight but who had an enormous influence: Muzio Clementi.
His piano sonatas are not often played, but those who listen closely will hear a world full of originality – music that master pianist Vladimir Horowitz spoke of with great admiration, and which left a clear mark on Beethoven. The programme also features Frédéric Chopin’s Third Ballade: lyrical, flowing and irresistible.
