Sometimes a good idea simply starts with a love for a piece of music. Violist Tilman Sandvoss was so fascinated by Frank Bridge’s Cello Sonata that he decided to arrange the work himself for his instrument – for Tilman, it proved not to be a bridge too far. The result: a sonata that sounds surprisingly natural on the viola, revealing new colours in a familiar work.
Beforehand, there will be a Secret Scores surprise: the European premiere of a composition written especially for Tilman. What exactly? That remains a secret for now.
A breakfast concert for curious ears – and for those who love to be surprised by music that sounds just that little bit different.
